Our Materials

Implantium™ is crafted from ASTM F-136 titanium, selected for its biocompatibility and suitability for sensitive skin.

PureTone™ is our waterproof, gold-plated stainless steel range, designed for everyday fashion wear.

We hold current mill certification for our titanium and carry out ongoing material testing.


Skin, Fit & Individual Suitability

Skin is individual, and how any piece of jewellery wears depends on a range of factors beyond the material itself, including:

  • Individual skin sensitivity
  • Aftercare and cleaning routine
  • The stage of healing of a piercing
  • The style, fit and placement of a piece for a particular anatomy

Because these factors vary from person to person, individual experiences with any jewellery will differ. If a piece does not suit you, we recommend discontinuing wear and consulting a qualified piercer for advice specific to your piercing.

Our Implantium™ range is made from implant-grade titanium, and many people find it helps their piercings settle and feel more comfortable. This is not a guarantee: we do not claim that our jewellery will heal a piercing, and we make no claim that switching to our pieces will prevent all irritation or issues. We simply offer a material that many of our customers find works well for them.

Caring for Your Jewellery

Implantium™ (titanium)

  • Clean gently with warm water and a mild, fragrance-free cleanser
  • Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive materials
  • Follow your piercer's aftercare guidance for fresh or healing piercings

PureTone™ (Stainless steel)

  • Waterproof and made for everyday wear
  • Wipe with a soft, dry cloth
  • To help maintain the plating, limit prolonged contact with perfumes, lotions and cleaning products
  • Store separately to avoid scratching

Returns & Faulty Items

For hygiene reasons, we are unable to accept returns on piercing jewellery.

In the unlikely event that an item arrives faulty, please contact us at support@smoothielondon.com within 90 days of receipt and we will resolve it in accordance with your statutory rights. Our full returns and refunds policy is available here.
