Jewellery you never have to take off.
Everything we make is designed to be worn every day and then just left on - slept in, showered in, and mostly forgotten about. Some of it is piercing jewellery in implant-grade titanium and some of it is earrings, necklaces and rings in waterproof plated steel, but it all comes from the same idea: pieces you will want to keep rather than replace.
Why it exists
I started Smoothie in 2020, as a student.
I was endlessly frustrated that the only earrings I could find were either fiddly and turned green within a couple of months, or so expensive that I was too nervous to actually wear them. There didn't seem to be anything in the middle - nothing you could put in, leave in, and still love looking at a year later.
So I started making it myself from my university bedroom. It began with earrings and it has carried into everything we have made since. Six years on, more than 24,000 people have bought from us, and we've expanded into a whole jewellery world.

What we make
Two ranges, one idea.
Implantium™ is our piercing jewellery, made in implant-grade titanium - flatback studs, hoops and clickers, for piercings that are brand new and for ones that healed years ago. PureTone™ is our waterproof plated range in bright silver and gold, and that is where the earrings, necklaces and rings live, for healed piercings and for everyday wear.
How we design
Inspired by history, art and vintage pieces.
I like maximalism that actually wears well - pieces with a bit going on, some detail and some personality, that you can still throw on every morning without thinking about them.
I also train a lot and I am generally busy, so that is the standard everything gets held to. If a piece cannot handle the gym, the shower and a week of being completely ignored, it is not good enough. Because who can be bothered to take their jewellery off every day?
The material
What Implantium™ actually is.
Implantium™ is our name for the titanium we use and for the way we build with it, and it is only available at Smoothie. The metal itself is ASTM F-136, which is implant-grade - the same standard used for surgical implants - so it is nickel-free and hypoallergenic, and it does not turn green.
Our flatback threads are three times longer than a standard one, so the front screws on easily, stays exactly where you put it, and you can change it yourself at home rather than booking in with your piercer every time. The little disc that sits behind your ear is a quatrefoil rather than a plain circle, and you will almost never see it, but we make it that way anyway.
Posts go from 5mm up to 8mm, because a lobe, a helix and a conch really do not take the same length, and if you are not sure which is yours there are spare posts and a sizing kit to help you work it out. Our bright silver PureTone™ plating mimics bright silver too, rather than the slightly flat grey cast that raw titanium has.
What we stand behind
If it ever tarnishes, we will replace it.
Implantium™ titanium and PureTone™ stainless steel are guaranteed against tarnishing for as long as you own the piece, however long that turns out to be. Stones, breakages in normal wear and plating are covered for a year from the day your order arrives, and the terms are all written out properly rather than left vague.
